Joey the Chambermate

Here's Joey doing the broom during our recent holiday -- he really took to it!

Joey's beginning to talk more now; most days he can say 'mama' or 'mummy', and on some days when he wants something he'd call 'daddy'. Of course 'what's this' (when he wants to eat something) has always been part of his reportoire.

Today I thought he said 'apostles' when he saw the picture of the 12 Apostles ... but then again he could have been saying 'A-por' for grandma!

And he also knows how to pull me hands away from the PC keyboard/ mouse so that HE could use them instead.

Kids nowadays sure growup fast.

Cherry Picking Economics

Here's my mother-in-law picking cherries with the rest of the family at a cherry farm.

Have to say the farm really knows how to do the touristy thing. Give coupla Singaporeans a bucket for 50 Aussie dollars, tell them to fill it up with all the cherries they can pick in it and they'd go ga-ga :) [you don't get a $5 refund on your admission charge if your bucket's not full]

Joey's best mate

Joey and his cousin Sze Min at a Melbourne shopping mall just before the family flew off.

Have to say Joey took to his cousins very well; he nearly forgot about his parents when they were around!

And Joey seems to like looking at er, women when we go out ... but when some of them smile at him, he put on this shy act of averting his gaze and looking downward ... hmmm

The Aussie knack for touting rocks

IMG_0724.JPG, originally uploaded by ZeeRedBaron.

This photo at the Twelve Apostles in Victoria, Australia was taken during our recent family holiday. The ladies went shopping and sent by bro-in-law Kuochuan and myself to drive my two nieces and mother-in-law to look at them rocks.

As you can see, the collapsed pile of rocks is actually one of the 'apostles' which collapsed recently (quite apt, given that Judas betrayed Jesus and killed himself after that ...).

Have to say the Aussies are q good at fashioning money-making tourist attractions from rocks and stuff. I mean, unless you're a geologist or something, who'd quite appreciate looking at a couple of rocks after a long drive of like 5 hours? My niece summed it up: "You brought me here to look at rocks?". But mebbe we're being rude.

The last time Layfong and I were at Ayers Rock (one of the top attractions of the world), we watched sun rise over the massive monolith, turning it into various shares of orange, yellow, ochre, etc. We were woken up at like 5am so we could see the rocks at 6am. I can still remember what one Brit youth told his parents: "We travelled thousands of miles, paid thousands of pounds and spent all this time getting here ... just to see this big rock?"

Have to say young people have a great way of simplifying stuff down to the basic essentials :)

Family Dec 05 Holiday in Oz

Hi All,

I've invited family and friends to take a look at our Aussie holiday last month with Layfong's family ... those who were not invited (I'm getting old), yell and I'd invite you to the website. I've restricted it to family and friends only (of course, you could still be a relative n friend who's not been invited, but I digress....)

Great pics of Joey growing up ... Enjoy and have a blessed year!
